Catching Up

I know it's been a while, I nearly forgot about this Blog thing I started, just happen across the web site figured I check my account. Anyway, a lot has happened since October, no sense trying to catch up, I will just start a new.

Been working a lot lately, I'm trying to break the 1500 HR mark by summer, among a few other things. Begin another 4-day trip tomorrow with over nights in FAY, MYR, and DHN. According to my log book, I flew with this captain once before last year, my comments say he's a nice guy who commutes from CHA, and lands with little or no flare.

A couple of weeks ago, I took my first lightning strike while climbing out of ATL. It definitely got our attention, luckily everything was fine and we proceeded on to LEX. However, when we landed, the post inspection reveled several minor discrepancies and the plane was grounded. We witnessed an amazing sunset as we waited in LEX. The picture above was us exiting the plane after we were pushed off the gate, realizing the plane wasn't going any were soon. The captain, our flight attendant, and a ramp personnel in photo as we ready to walk back to the terminal for a deadhead flight back to ATL.

I'm back in Atlanta for 3 days of reserve duty, with one day remaining, plan on going back home tomorrow night. My work hasn't called, and I don't expect them to since I already have vacation credit for the month and the weather, always a significant factor with reserve duty, has been wonderful.

Definitely a touch of Fall in the air, I notice some the leaves beginning to yellow in Tina and Tom's yard, and there's a chill to the evening air that says Fall has arrived.

My 3 and half days at home last week went by fast as usual. But I did get to attend Luke's 2nd grade science day, where he got to do some fish painting. I roll into 2 weeks off, were planning 2 days in Maui, and I will be attending reunion dinner from a former military unit I was attached to during the late 80's.

Spending the night in Charleston, VA. Started the day with a round trip to Jacksonville, NC. Bad weather in Atlanta resulted in 2 hour ground delay there. It's a must to always carry a good book in my line work, as the time allowed me to knock out another chapter in my current book, "A Short History of Nearly Everything" by Bill Bryson.

I flew today's first leg, made a good landing and approach, it was a text book classic, just like the sim, broke around 800 to 1000 feet. Allot of clouds and light rain on the return back to ATL, but a mostly smooth ride. The captain I'm flying with is a nice guy and easy to get along with. He's been with the company about 8 years and told me he started his aviation career after 3 years of med school, but then the money ran dry and he had to make a career change. After inherriting some money he said aviation was his new calling in life. Knowing this, I now picture him in scrubs since he has a very 'doctor-ish' look to him. His landing were firm, not much flare.

Sleep in tomorrow and schedule to do 3 legs. After returning to ATL, working a round trip to Panama City, but dead heading the leg down. Weather tomorrow is forcast to be good, scheduled to finish around 7pm. Roll into 4 days off and going home via the red-eye thorough Las Vegas. Should have me home by 7am Monday.

Going to bed now, Good night.

First Blog Entry

After seeing Tina's and Tom's Blog Spot I've decide to give it a try myself. Will try to provide at least one weekly update and share photo's when ever I can. Hope to share with close friends and family, Enjoy, Ken.
